J&K downs Uttrakhand by a solitary goal


SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir football team beat Uttrakhand by a solitary goal in the league match of Santosh trophy (North Zone) on Friday.
J&K team took the lead in the 10th minute of the match when referee awarded a penalty kick to visitors and mid-fielder Hanan Mir put the ball comfortably in the net.
For the majority of 90 minutes of play, visiting team had pressed attacking button to make continuous advances on the Uttrakhand goal post from both flanks but failed to find the net as visiting team missed many chances as they lacked the finishing touches.
The teams went into the break with a scoreline of 1-0.
In the second half Uttrakhand made several moves to score equaliser but strong defence of the touring side thwarted their every move. The final score-line remain 1-0 in favour of J&K when the final whistle blew.
On Sunday J&K Football team will lock horns with Punjab in their last fixture.
