Baramulla: The 598th Urs of saint Hazrat Syeed Mohammad Janbaz Wali was observed in Khanpora area of Baramulla on Friday. A number of devotees including women, men and children from across the Kashmir valley visited the shrine and prayed for the peace in the world. The holy relics of the saint were displayed after all five prayers at the shrine. “We are celebrating the Urs of this great Sofi saint who came here from Isfahan with the message of peace, love and Islam,” a caretaker of the shrine Khursheed Ahmad Shah said while addressing the devotees on the occasion.
The caretakers and devotees demanded the reconstruction of the shrine and other buildings along the shrine. “There are no washroom facilities for devotees around the shrine, which is need of the hour,Shah said. “The Wakf Board took Rs 2 crore from this shrine in the past but there was no development or reconstruction. The actual state of the shrine’s walls is being concealed behind new paint,” he said.
