SRINAGAR: Senior resistance leader Masrat Alam Bhat was re-arrested on Thursday, two days after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court quashed his 34th detention under the draconian Public Safety Act.
On Tuesday, the High Court had directed his immediate release. Alam is the senior leader of Syed Ali Geelani’s led Hurriyat and chairman of Muslim League.
Architect of 2010 uprising, Masarat is undergoing continuous imprisonment for the past more than six years. He was released for a few days after the late Mufti Syed took over as the chief minister. He was re-arrested after he attended a rally where Pakistan flag was hoisted and pro-Pakistan slogans were shouted.
