2 soldiers injured in Hajin gunfight, militants escape

Hajin: Two soldiers were injured during a brief gunfight with militants in Bandipora district’s Hajin area on Thursday morning.
Local residents said militants fired at the forces from a hideout that had been surrounded by police and army, in Shahgund village. The militants managed to escape.

December 22: Local residents came out on streets in Parray Mohalla after forces laid siege around a house where two militants had been hiding. The residents threw firepots at the forces, forcing them to call off the operation.
November 21: Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter between forces and militants in Bonikhan area of Hajin. The area witnessed massive protests against the killings.
November 24: Lashkar-i-Taiba militants Khalid and Abu Raka and an army man Naik Chandra Singh were killed in Naidkhai area of Hajin in a brief encounter. The killing of militants triggered clashes between forces and local residents who were asking the forces to hand over the bodies of the militants.
February 5: Three non-Kashmiri militants were killed in an encounter at main town Hajin. Their bodies were not handed over to local residents but were buried in the garrison village at Boniyar in Uri, Baramulla. A large number of Hajin residents offered prayers for the slain militants.

    Interfering with security operation must be a crime and be punnished.
