SRINAGAR: The department of food control on Wednesday seized expired food items from a store after receiving complaints that these were being sold to customers.
The district’s designated officer for food safety Yameen Nabi told Kashmir Reader that he received a complaint about a shopkeeper for selling expired food items. The officer and his team took cognizance of the complaint and investigated it on the spot.
“We seized biscuits and other food items worth Rs 10,000 from the shop after they were found outdated. Samples have been sent to a laboratory for analysis. Its report is expected to come within 14 days after which legal action would be initiated,” Yameen said.
