Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir liberation Front (JKLF) on Saturday “strongly condemned the ongoing spree of arrests and booking of political activists under black law PSA.” Terming the spree of arrests, nocturnal raids, and hooliganism by Indian forces as clear sign of frustration and undemocratic attitude of the PDP-BJP coalition, JKLF in its statement issued from Maqbool Manzil said that police had arrested JKLF vice president of district Kulgam, Assadullah Sheikh, at Ramban when he was traveling along with his fruit vehicle towards Jammu. The JKLF said that Sheikh was brought to police station Devsar and immediately booked under PSA and shifted to Kuthwa jail. His truck laden with fruits was also detained and kept at Devsar police station.
The JKLF said that Kulgam Police have also arrested the leader of a religious organization, Moulana Arshid Qadri.
Condemning the spree of arrests, JKLF said that its ailing chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik is languishing in jail from July 8 and has been kept in solitary confinement. Similarly, JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal and JKLF activists Fayaz Ahmad Mir from Ganderbal and Shabir Ahmad Ganaie of Kakapora Pulwama, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Kupwara, and Assadullah Sheikh after being booked under PSA have been shifted to Jammu. JKLF vice-chairman Bashir Ahmad Butt along with zonal vice-president Muhammad Yasin Butt and senior member Muhammad Amin Magloo remain lodged at Rajbagh police station. JKLF vice-chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi is languishing in police station Humhama. JKLF district president Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) is detained at Ganderbal police station and JKLF zonal organiser Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri is detained at Police station Kothibagh.
JKLF also condemned the continuous house arrest of APHC leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Altaf Shah, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ayaz Akbar, Doctor GM Hubbi and Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi.
