SRINAGAR: The J&K High Court on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant against Managing Director of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) for not complying with the court’s orders.
“Majesty of Law is supreme to all and none can enjoy the potency to avoid it,” Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey said. “Therefore, the court is left with no option but to secure the presence of respondent no 2 (MD JKTDC) by coercive method.”
The court directed IGP Kashmir to execute the warrant against the MD, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
On September 19, the court had directed SSP Srinagar to file a personal affidavit regarding execution of the warrant for securing the MD’s presence. Additional Advocate General BA Dar filed in court compliance on behalf of the SSP.
“Perusal of the compliance report would reveal that the warrant has been executed but despite execution of warrant, (MD, JKTDC) has not come,” the court observed.
On being asked by the court why the MD was not present, Deputy Advocate General FA Mir said that the officer was in Jammu on official business. The court was hearing a petition relating to a service matter.
