Pak’s NA speaker discusses CPEC, Kashmir with China

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has assured China that despite threats, Islamabad will utilize all resources to protect Chinese workers and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, while also highlighting the Kashmir issue.
The gesture was conveyed as Pakistan’s National Assembly speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, reports the Nation.
The two sides also reiterated their commitment to the timely completion of various projects under the CPEC.
During the meeting, it was underscored that the CPEC was to the benefit both the countries as well as the entire region.
Asserting that China is a great country and a time tested friend of Pakistan, Sadiq said that Islamabad is truly proud to be such a devoted friend from generation to generation.
He also expressed the hope that frequent parliamentary exchanges and people to people contacts between the two countries would further strengthen the historically robust relationship.
He also highlighted the complete political consensus in Pakistan on the importance of the CPEC.
Sadiq also briefed his Chinese counterpart on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized on the need for a peaceful settlement in accordance with the UN resolutions. Meanwhile, Zhang terming Pakistan and China as “All Weather Strategic Partners” extended support for the initiatives undertaken by the Government for Socio- Economic development.
He also stated his understanding of Islamabad’s position on the Kashmir issues.
