SRINAGAR: The JKLF (R) chief patron, Barrister Abdul Majid Trumbo, on Saturday welcomed the statement of US State Department spokesperson, Mark Toner, while maintaining that Kashmir was principal reason for tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a statement issued here, Trumbo said that peace in South Asia was at stake, urging the US State Department to facilitate talks between all stakeholders for an end to “deprivation, restlessness, political uncertainty, unabated killing and intimidation” in Jammu and Kashmir. “Both the countries engaged themselves in talks, but of no avail. It is pertinent to mention that unless the core issue is addressed, the danger to peace and tranquility will remain there,” he said.
The chief patron paid tribute to the three civilians killed in Kashmir Valley, saying, “the brute forces are using disproportionate force against peaceful protestors”.
He expressed grief over continuous killing in Kashmir, and extended his sympathies to the bereaved families.
He also expressed shock over slapping class 10 student Waheed Ahmad Gojri with PSA.
“It is highly deplorable that those pleading for ‘Goli Key Badley Boli ’and were arguing for ‘battle of ideas’ are up against innocent and they are logged in jails,” he said.
