CEO reviews special summary revision of electoral rolls

JAMMU: Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shantmanu on Thursday convened a meeting of representatives of all recognized political parties In connection with special summary revision of electoral rolls with respect to January 1, 2017.
Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Raman Kumar Kesar, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu Krishan Lal, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu Mamta Rajput and representatives of different political parties were present in the meeting.
The CEO informed in the meeting that special campaigns would be conducted onSeptember 18, September 25 and October 9, 2016 with Booth Level Agents (BLA) of political parties for receiving claims and objections in electoral rolls. The final publication of electoral rolls would be done on January 5, 2017.
The CEO asked the representatives to identify and appoint BLAs for each polling booth who would be associated with special campaign for roll revision process on above mentioned dates alongwith Block Level Officers (BLOs).
He said that the Election Department is exercising to register all the eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 years or above as on January 1, 2017 and sough cooperation from all the political parties to make the campaign a success.
The CEO further informed that Form 6 (For registration of new voters), Form 7 (For deletion of entry in the Photo Electoral Roll), Form 8 (For Modification) and Form 8A (For transposition from one place to another) would remain available free of cost with all BLOs, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Electoral Roll Registration Officers and District Election Officers. The CEO assured the representatives of political parties that their suggestions for achieving cent percent registration, rationalization of polling booths, conducting awareness programmes and purification of roll will be taken into consideration.
