SRINAGAR: Terming the arrival of the Indian delegation a futile exercise, senior Hurriyat leader and Salvation Movement vice-chairman Altaf Ahmad Bhat said on Sunday that India’s sole aim is to continue the status quo on Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Altaf Ahmad said that despite tall claims of reconciliation, resolution and peace, India is sending more weaponry and forces to the Valley. India’s “political package” to Kashmir is crores of pellets, he said.
“They have caged all resistance leadership. With whom they want to talk?” asked Ahmad in his statement. “It is ridiculous that on the one hand they want to end the deadlock over the prevailing issue and on the other hand they are adamant to suppress the aspirations of the state’s people with their repressive and arbitrary measures. It is a wastage of time,” Ahmad said, asking for release of all resistance leaders and calling back the army from populated areas.
“We support and stand by Hurriyat Conference,” Ahmad said. “Unless the conditions laid by resistance leadership are not fulfilled, we will strive and carry our struggle to its logical end.”
