Srinagar: Democratic Party president and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir welcomed the all-party delegation sent by India to Kashmir. Mir said that even though Kashmiris have lost faith in such delegations, he still hoped that such a move will prove a positive step in bringing peace in the state.
In an interaction with the all-party delegation, Mir urged the members to find a permanent solution to the “vexed problem” of Kashmir keeping in view the historical background and aspirations of the people of the state. He said that the Modi government is in a better position to find a viable solution to the problem due to public mandate and support of all opposition parties on the issue. He suggested the members of the delegation that they should visit hospitals and meet the injured besides families of those who have lost their dear ones during the present turmoil. He asked the delegation to impress upon the central government the need to initiate a purposeful dialogue with all stakeholders immediately.
