Srinagar: 5-year-old Nasir who was admitted to SMHS with an eye injury that he said he had suffered when a CRPF trooper at Sherpora, KP Road, Anantnag, inserted a needle in his eye, has not regained sight in his left eye even after three surgeries. Nasir was admitted to hospital on July 22, the day he sustained the wound. Retinal surgeon from Mumbai, Dr Natrajan, conducted one surgery. Now he has been admitted to SMHS for a fourth surgery. Doctors have diagnosed corneal tear, traumatic cataract, and post-traumatic endophthalmitis in his eye, caused by either “pellet injury” or “needle prick”. They have decided to insert lenses in his eye, though the chances of his recovering vision are bleak.
