Islamabad: President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, on Tuesday underscored the need for proactive diplomacy to draw the world attention toward human rights violations being committed in Kashmir.
He, according to a Radio Pakistan report, was talking to prime minister’s special assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi in Islamabad.
The president called for actively pursuing the Kashmir cause at various international forums and expressing Pakistan’s concern about the alarming situation in Kashmir, the report said.
Tariq Fatemi briefed the president about international issues with particular reference to the regional situation, it said.
Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with prime minister of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) Farooq Haider, the president reiterated that Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, political and moral support to the Kashmiris in their struggle.
The president stressed that peace will remain elusive in the region unless the decades old issue of Kashmir was resolved.
