SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) on Sunday condemned the arrest of its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
In a statement issued here, the party said it held an emergency meeting regarding the arrest of Mirwaiz in which its leaders “strongly condemned” the arrest.
The party said the arrest showed “the frustration” of a government that wanted “to stifle the voice of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir and to crush the ongoing resistance movement”.
It said the government of India was misleading the people of India as well as the international community about Kashmir’s ground reality.
The AAC termed the arrests of Mirwaiz and other pro-freedom leaders as a “worst example of state terrorism”.
The leaders resolved to take “the resistance movement, nourished with the pious blood of the martyrs, to its logical conclusion”. They said the pro-freedom leadership would not hesitate to offer “any type of sacrifice in this regard”.
