Srinagar: The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said on Thursday that the future of entire south Asia was in danger if the people of Jammu and Kashmir continued to be subjected to denial by the Indian state.
The spokesman said that India was already eaten up by “abject poverty, communal violence and endless confrontation with neighbouring countries” and the continuous “oppression and suppression” of the freedom movement in Jammu and Kashmir was going to “tear down the future of the Indian state.”
“The shamelessness with which Rajnath Singh tried to paint our movement for the right to self-determination as ‘some elements trying to mislead some of the youth’ is the same denial of the fact that our men, women, youth and children are out on roads demanding consciously their fundamental right of freedom from Indian forcible occupation as they have been doing for the past seven decades,” the spokesman said.
Commenting on the debate over pellet guns, the spokesman said that except for replacing the modes of killing of people of Jammu and Kashmir, India has never been serious about any kind of resolution.
“When entire Kashmir is burning, it is evident that rather than coming out of the denial mode and showing seriousness in resolving the dispute, the Government of India wants to debate pellet guns and its alternatives,” he said.
“The non-serious attitude of Indian state can also be gauged by Singh’s announcement of the appointment of a nodal officer for Kashmir issue as if they want to implement some central government social welfare scheme,” he added.
Hailing the determination of the young generation, the spokesman said that “our youth are well aware of the fact that their future is never going to be secured and safeguarded till the last Indian solider is holding ground in Jammu and Kashmir.”
