SRINAGAR: The bodies of two unidentified, nonlocal militants killed by the government forces in an encounter at Nowhatta in old Srinagar on August 15 have been buried at the martyrs’ graveyard at Gantamulla in this north Kashmir district.
The burial was, according to the locals, carried out during the intervening night of August 20-21 in the graveyard where 10 nonlocal militants have been laid to rest so far.
The locals said they had been kept waiting for the bodies, as police had only asked them to keep two graves ready for the burial.
Five days after the attack, bodies were transported to the graveyard in dead of the night to complete the burial, they said, adding that residents attended the militants’ last rites.
A CRPF commandant was killed in the attack, which also left five CRPF troopers wounded.
