SRINAGAR: Gilgit Baltistan’s legislative assembly on Friday condemned statements made by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Mod,i and unanimously passed a resolution against his statements.
According to Geo TV report, the resolution termed his statements “to be madness” and “an attempt to divert attention from the atrocities taking place in Kashmir”.
“Every child in Gilgit Baltistan is ready to fight for the defense and security of Pakistan,” the resolution added.
The report said that protests erupted in different cities of Gilgit Baltistan against Modi’s statement, with students as well as the general public expressing anger and raising slogans against the Indian prime minister.
Participants, it said, stressed that they were and will remain Pakistanis and that they were proud of their nationality. As per the report, the participants stated that Modi should be ashamed of speaking about Gilgit Baltistan when he is responsible for the situation in Kashmir.
The deputy speaker, Jafferullah Khan, and Iqbal Hassan a member of the legislative assembly were also present in the protest, it said.
Another report, carried by Duniyanews, said protests were also held in Chaman, Dalbadin, Lasbela, Bolan, Chagai, Khuzdar, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Dera Murad Jamali, Bela and Nushki cities on Thursday.
The chief minister of Baluchistan has criticised Modi for this Baluchistan remarks, saying “Baluchistan cannot be compared to Kashmir”.
He accused India of backing the insurgents in the province.
