SRINAGAR: Pro-freedom leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have called for a 72-hour march, beginning Wednesday, towards the UN office in Srinagar.
In a joint statement issued here, they said that as the “killer forces” have escalated the killing spree by murdering more innocent civilians and injuring hundreds on Monday, the resistance programme has been amended.
“People from all parts of the state are asked to come out on roads and start a 72-hour march towards the UN office from tomorrow morning. Wherever the forces stop them from moving forward they should sit on the road, hold placards and protest peacefully for 72 hours,” they said on Tuesday.
The leaders said that the UN was duty-bound to fulfill its promise to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The march to the UN office would be a reminder to the world body to stop being a “mute spectator of the genocide of Kashmiris,” the leaders said.
