SRINAGAR: Suhail Ahmad Wani from Lethpora, who was shot at by the security guard of Ramban sub-divisional magistrate on August 2, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS, Soura on Saturday.
His death took the toll of the martyred civilians in the raging anti-India uprising to 59.
Another youth, Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, 20, from Druru Tangmarg, who has suffered multiple pellet injuries on Friday, is critical.
“His brain has been damaged seriously by pellets. His condition is too critical and has very little chances of survival,” a doctor said on condition of anonymity.
Heavy clashes erupted on National Highway in Lethpora area of Pulwama district as soon as Wani’s body reached his home.
Witnesses said the government forces fired teargas canisters and pellet ammunition into the mourning crowd.
Thousands of people attended the funeral of the deceased.
