Srinagar: Pakistan has asked Pope Francis to take “notice” of the sufferings of people of Kashmir and lend his help.
“It is now for a holy personality like his Holiness the Pope to intervene on humanitarian grounds and stop the Indian forces from killing innocent people of Indian held Kashmir,” said the letter written by Pakistan’s National Commission for Human Rights Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan.
The letter highlighted that the two wars, discreet diplomacy and open dialogue have brought no results in the disputes between India and Pakistan.
“The blessing of his holiness and his benign words on the subject will have a tremendous impact which will save teeming millions from further killings, pain and injury,” Justice Chowhan’s letter said.
Chowhan pointed out that the only “fault” of Kashmiris is that they were seeking right of self-determination.
“The atrocities, killings, torture and human rights violations with impunity are being committed by Indian armed forces. This is shocking the conscience of the world”, he said, requesting the Pope to extend his help to Kashmiris like he has extended to other people of the world.
