Bandipora: The administration is coercing government teachers in this north Kashmir district to take part in the events being organised by the state on August 15, Kashmir Reader has learnt.
According to sources, teachers in various government schools have been asked by the district administration to take part in the flag-hoisting ceremonies.
They said the district administration has ordered the chief education officer concerned to suspend the employees who refuse to attend the events.
The teachers who spoke to Kashmir Reader about the move criticised the administration.
“In this situation even the education minister is unable to face public and we are being asked to participate in the functions on India’s Independence Day. This is outrageous,” a teacher, who wished not to be named, said.
The teachers said that they may have to face the public outrage if they follow the administration’s order.
“Who is going to guarantee our security?” asked another teacher.
