Srinagar: District administration has directed Chief Medical Officer Srinagar to constitute a team of doctors for exhumation of the body of a man’s from Tengpora. The 26-year-old Shabir Ahmed Mir was allegedly killed by DSP Yasir Qadri along with his team at his home on July 10.
The CMO Srinagar, Dr Bashir Ahmed Malik said that some senior doctors from Government Medical College will take part in the process. “The date for exhumation of the body will be fixed within a day or two,” he said.
In his application before CJM Srinagar, Shabir’s father, Abdul Rehman Mir said that on July 10, at about 6:35pm, he along with family members was watching TV when a police party headed by the DySP barged into his house and started smashing window panes and doors.
“(My) wife tried to stop the police official but (he) got infuriated and physically assaulted (her) and hurled invectives,” he said.
Seeing all this, Mir said, his son—Shabir Ahmad—could not bear it and tried to save her mother from the clutches of the official and other police personnel.
“On this the police official went into rage and started beating (my) son and thereafter opened fire. My son died on the spot,” he said. Mir has charged the DySP of taking law into his hands and exceeded his powers to kill to his son in a “cold blooded murder.”
While the CJM ordered registration of FIR against the DySP and the state’s high court upheld its orders, the Supreme Court has stayed the orders and has posted the case for further consideration on Friday. (with inputs from local news gathering agency)
