Srinagar: Police on Sunday arrested Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders including Mushtaq Ajmal and Noor Muhammad Kalwal, a party statement issued here said.
It also said Front’s senior leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt continued his hunger strike in police station Kothibagh while party’s block president Kakapora has been shifted to Kuthwa jail.
“The health of Zahoor Ahmad Butt has deteriorated. Prior to arrest, he was scheduled to undergo an operation in his leg,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is languishing in Srinagar Central Jail, has termed the arrest of party leaders as “highly uncivilised” and “undemocratic”.
“Such undemocratic acts reveal the frustration of the so-called rulers,” Malik said, and warned that “if anything happens to Zahoor Ahmad Butt, government would be responsible”.
