Srinagar: At a time when the government has launched a massive crackdown on the people who have risen in revolt against its rule, and called in CRPF reinforcements from other states, it announced that it will be recruiting Special Police Officers in all 22 districts of the state from August 10 to August 25.
A statement issued by the government information department said the recruitments are being carried out “in order to meet the emerging requirements of policing in tourism, traffic regulation and disaster management”.
A selection committee headed by deputy commissioners concerned will recommended the recruits and the engagement would be restricted to native districts of the candidates.
The applicants have been asked for submit their forms in the offices of the DCs concerned. Following recruitment they will have to undergo training.
During the 2010 agitation, the government carried out a similar recruitment drive. SPOs are paid a monthly honorarium of Rs 6000 and some of them are provided permanent jobs later.
