SRINAGAR: Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) has condemned what it called absurd tirade of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti against the entire populace.
In a press statement, KCSDS said that “instead of expressing compunction over the brutal killings and stepping down by taking responsibility as head of the Unified Command for the blood bath and blinding of children and crippling of youth in the peaceful protests, she is turning tables against the citizens and in particular the victims of violence.”
The state said that Mehbooba is trying to interpret the entire people’s movement as a criminal one, as if people are coming on the streets to indulge in an entertainment battle, as if they are votaries of violence and indulge in stone pelting as a game of chess.
“On the spot reports have revealed that people protest peacefully till the police and CRPF fire at them or release pepper gas or teargas shells. Only then they retaliate with stones in self defence,” the statement said.
Quoting a report about Dumhal Hanjipora incident carried by this newspaper, the KCSDS said the police station was set on fire only when the police killed Yasmeena “with utmost brutality and beat her brother almost to death without any provocation.”
KCSDS has claimed that it is now govt’s own agents, who have been assigned the task of persecuting people to criminalise the movement and turn people against it as they tried to do the same in the past.
“These counter evil tactics have been used by the agencies in the past also to criminalise a sacred movement for the restoration of sovereignty that has been forcibly snatched from us. We are still having curfew and digital curfew responsible for all the problems,” the statement added.
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the statement added that after being “employed as CM after a long wait, she has lost conscience as well as consciousness of being a Kashmiri and is totally dyed in RSS color.”
“She has forgotten the assertions she has made when out of power so much so that she reduces people’s aspiration to be free from India to an issue in the minds of people, probably as some disease, as a disorder or some morbidity that needs to be addressed to and stamped out with guns probably,” the statement said.
