Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) were “lucky as they enjoy full freedom.” Sharif made the remarks here while talking to newly elected lawmakers of PaK, most of them from his party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which won majority seats in the July 21 elections to form the new government.
Sharif promised the PaK legislators to raise the issue of Kashmir at every international forum and to provide all support to Kashmiris across the LoC. He described Kashmir as the “unfinished agenda” of the United Nations.
“The issue of Kashmir is unfinished agenda of the UN and Pakistan would continue to support the people of Kashmir morally and diplomatically,” he said.
“Our hearts beat with those people… and we are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them,” he said.
“Right of self-determination is the basic right of the people of Kashmir under UN resolutions and we will raise this issue at every international platform,” he said.
He directed the newly elected lawmakers to provide all support to the people on the other side of the LoC.
Sharif said that newly elected assembly should focus on improving health education and infrastructure in the region.
