SRINAGAR: Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday revealed that slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani spoke to him ahead of his killing.
Speaking to a gathering of over 500 protestors outside his office-cum-residence at Hyderpora, the incarcerated Geelani said, “Commander Burhan (Rehmatulaahi Alah-RA) called me ahead of his martyrdom.”
“We are fighting on our front and we believe Hurriyat leaders too are committed to their job,” Geelani quoted slain Burhan as having told him.
Asking people to be steadfast, Geelani while paying tributes to Burhan-the popular militant commander-said, “it was because of his honesty and commitment that Burhan achieved martyrdom and world is witness as how lakhs of people attended his funeral.”
Geelani credited “the current uprising to the martyrdom of Burhan”. “It was because of sacrifice of a 22 year old youth that Kashmir is up against India again,” he said.
Syed Ali Geelani addressed people near his residence. Geelani opened a window of his office and addressed people who were sitting in another compartment separated from Geelani’s office by a concrete wall and a lane.
Appealing people to follow the protest program ‘religiously’, Geelani, who is under house detention since he returned from New Delhi earlier this year, said, “We are fighting a big power but our commitment and sacrifices will defeat it.”
On the occasion, Geelani impressed upon people to open and strengthen the Bait-ul-Maals. “If we make system of Bait-ul-Maals a success, I swear that no Kashmiri will sleep empty stomach,” he said addressing people at large.
He asked people to take care of those who work hand-to-mouth. “It is a big and long struggle,” he said, “so it is responsibility of rich and affluent people to ensure distribution of essential items like ration evenly amongst those who are needy.”
Geelani, who has been banned from moving out of his home, addressed people from one of the windows of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) office building..
Hundreds of people had reached and gathered in a park adjacent to Geelani’s home where they listened to the ailing octogenarian leader. It was second time in last three days that Geelani addressed public gatherings when Kashmir is under curfew.
On the occasion Geelani cautioned the people against the wicked policies of the pro-Indian people who have different languages at the time of power and out of power. The pro-freedom leader said that the height of the shamelessness is that these paid Indian agents openly accuse each other of killing the Kashmiri innocent people and compete on the argument “who killed more” in their respective regimes. Geelani appealed the people to identify these traitors and don’t give them anymore chances to exploit the sentiments of the common Kashmiris.
“Everybody in the Jammu & Kashmir knows that the pro-Indian politicians are just stooges of New Delhi and they have nothing in their hands except to hike their own salaries and perks. These people are loyal and obedient employees of New Delhi and they have no say even in the local administrative issues and they can’t even order the release of an innocent person from the detention,” he said.
While reiterating the protest programs of the pro-freedom leadership, Geelani appealed the people of the Hyderpora and the adjoining areas to assemble here at Tehreek-e-Hurriyat head office on 29 July Friday at sharp 11:00 am to make the ‘Jamia Chalo’ program a grand success and said that we will peacefully march together towards the Jamia Masjid Srinagar on that day. Geelani also reiterated the tomorrows Kulgam Chalo program and appealed the people to follow the programs of the pro-freedom leadership with great discipline.
Meanwhile a Sikh delegation from Tral arrived at Hyderpora to meet Geelani and assured him that the entire Sikh community is with the freedom struggle of the Jammu & Kashmir.
In the meeting the Sikh delegation also revealed that some miscreants and suspicious persons are trying to harass and harm them to vitiate the Sikh-Muslim brotherhood in the state.
Geelani expressed his deep sorrow and concern over this and said that the freedom movement of Kashmir is not against any particular religion or any particular section of the society. He said that the Sikh community has always stood with the Kashmiri Muslims shoulder to shoulder in the very trying times and they too have given sacrifices for the movement. He further said that harming Sikh brothers in Kashmir will amount to harming the freedom struggle of the nation.
