Joint resistance extends shutdown, protests till July 29

Srinagar: The Joint resistance leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday extended the protests and shutdown call till July 29, while appealing people to make the programmes a success.

In a statement, the trio said a complete shutdown should be observed on July 26 (Tuesday) till 2 pm and markets and commercial establishments should open after 2 pm so that people can stock essential commodities. On the same evening, people have been asked to observe an hour-long blackout from 8-9 pm.

On July 27 (Wednesday), the leaders have called for a complete shutdown while asking people to move towards Kulgam for paying tributes to slain civilians killed during past two weeks. On the same evening, the trio asked people to hold after peaceful protests Magrib prayers.

On July 28 (Thursday), a complete shutdown and protests should be held, they said. Also they asked people to observe blackout from 8-9pm.

On July 29 (Friday), the leaders called for a complete shutdown while asking people from across the Valley to assemble at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid where a rally will held.
