SRINAGAR: Activists of the Shiv Sena’s Punjab unit stopped trucks on way to Jammu and Kashmir and forced their Muslim drivers to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.
According to media reports, the activists said they wanted to “pay back” Kashmiri Muslims with the “right treatment” for allegedly harassing the Amarnath pilgrims.
The reports said that some drivers were reportedly beaten up for refusing to chant the slogans, while many of them were also forced to burn Pakistan’s flag.
Shiva Sena’s Punjab chief, Rajiv Tandon, has said, “What they (Kashmiri Muslims) did to Hindu pilgrims on Amarnath Yatra has been done to them. We only asked Muslim drivers to say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Pakistan murdabad’.”
While police had initially denied having any information about the incident, but an FIR was later registered.
