Burhan’s death immortalized him as he merged with the idea of freedom from deceit, from indignity, from subjugation and shamelessness, from hegemony and from everything is not constituted of human spirit. But the young rebel also once again lifted the thick veil from a reality that those who claim to represent the people of Kashmir try to hide and twist in order to retain their petty vassal power. Their realm of a long dead conscience devoid of courage stands exposed once again, and expect no remorse and not a sign of them leaving their own cadavers. The people of Kashmir have once again rejected their politics and their games.
The ruling class in Kashmir has become an abyss of shamelessness. As Kashmiri people are killed under their watch all that the babu class have to offer is appeal for calm which they will then use to perpetuate tyranny and their own shamelessness. As the forces they owe their existence to enact a bloodbath once again in Kashmir, they appeal for help from those they don’t bat an eyelid while subjecting them to unending incarceration. War crimes are being committed under the watch of the chief minister who built her political armor using green robes and shedding crocodile tears. Not a word of empathy, let alone condemnation. This chief minister has defeated even her own deceptions and has had the temerity to tell the people that ‘their violence’ brings misery to the victims. Whose victims, whose violence, one may ask. The dead and the injured, just like their families are your victims Madam Chief Minister. The people you claim to represent are your victims.
Your spin-doctors who never tire of declaring ‘un-Islamic’ every act of public resistance against tyranny that you represent have the blood of Kashmiri people on their hands, just like you do. You derive your power from the jackboot that seeks to trample the spirit of freedom and humanity, the opposite of which you have come to finally represent. Where does your unlimited anti-courage come from! Let alone self-rule, self-respect demands that you come out of the belly of the beast, apologize to people who you have misrepresented even though you have already added yourself as a static to a number of those who came before you and fell short of courage to side with the truth. But in all likelihood you will not do anything like that, because you think time will wash the blood off your hands, you will wait it out. Yes, tragically this too will pass! But that doesn’t mean the jackboot wins.
