SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing people during Laylat al-Qadr at Jamia Masjid here said the reason behind the problems and challenges the Muslims are facing is that they have deviated from the teachings of the holy Qur’an.
As per a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said Muslims are entangled in the “mess” due to the flawed and wrong understanding of Islam and not following its message in letter and spirit. He said without understanding and implementing the message of Qur’an and Islamic teachings in their lives, Muslims could not witness prosperity and tackle their problems.
Mirwaiz appealed the people of Kashmir to observe Eid ul-Fitr with simplicity and austerity and urged them to make the poor, destitute, orphans and the needy part of their happiness on this religious festival.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman said the holy month of Ramadan teaches to exhibit control over cravings of heart and provides an opportunity to come closer to Allah.
“The message of Ramadan of being sympathetic toward one another, maintaining brotherhood and sacrificing for one another should be followed during the entire year so that reforms in society are brought in the real sense by eradicating social evils,” he said.
Terming the unity among Muslims as vital for the supremacy of Islam, Mirwaiz prayed for the Jannat-ul-Firdous of all the martyrs of Kashmir and also for the just struggle of Kashmiris.
Meanwhile, as per a statement, a large number of non-resident Kashmiris living in different parts of the world watched the sermon of Mirwaiz live via social media.
