Forest employees protest for salaries

Baramulla: Need-based and daily-wage employees of the Forest department’s Langate Forest Range protested on Saturday against the officials who allegedly misusing the funds meant for their salaries.
Score of the employees gathered in the compound of the Range and shouted against the accused officials.
They said the government recently released their three months’ salary, but the officials, including rangers and divisional forest officer (DFO), ‘conspired’ to pay them for just one month.
“We all know that the department released our three months salary recently. But the DFO concerned distributed our two months’ salary among his range officers and told us that the government released only one month’s salary,” a protester said.
The employees torn off their clothes and threatened to lock the office of the Range, if their salaries were not paid.
The DFO, Mehrajudin, however, argued that the employees’ only one month’s salary has been released.
“We will release their remaining salaries when the government provides us more money for it,” he told Kashmir Reader.
