‘Stressed’ IAS officer shifted to cool heels in Delhi

Srinagar: The state cabinet on Sunday removed the Indian Administrative Service officer Yasha Mudagul from the post of deputy comacmissioner of sensitive Baramulla district. She has been posted as additional resident commissioner and ex-officio secretary, resident commission in New Delhi.
The transfer was on cards since ruling People’s Democratic Party legislator and former minister Javed Mustafa Mir revealed in the state assembly that an officer who is heading a sensitive district has attempted suicide recently. He said the officer is not in a sound mental state and must be removed from the sensitive posting. The legislator quoting a newspaper report said that the officer attempted suicide after a senior IAS officer visited her residence.
The news went viral on the social media and it came to fore that the officer was Yasha Mudgul, a 2007-batch IAS officer, who was posted as deputy commissioner Baramulla last year. Mudgul, reports said, was under tremendous stress for quite some time due to personal issues. She was saved by her personal staff last Friday when she had cut her wrist veins to end her life.
Reports said that a senior IAS officer, who has been in news for his strained relationship with his wife and children during his posting in the PMO a decade ago, was frequenting the lady officer. The senior officer has not been touched.
Several IAS officers serving in Kashmir complain of living a stressful life. In 1997, commissioner cum secretary level officer SP Kazal hanged himself inside a Cheshma Shahi hut. He had strained relationship with his second wife. His first wife and a daughter had died in a boat capsize incident in DalLake.
Meanwhile, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, has been posted as deputy commissioner, Baramulla. Ali Raza, secretary in the tribal affairs department, has been transferred and posted as secretary in the agriculture production department.  Ms Leena Padha, special secretary, agriculture production department has been transferred and posted as special secretary tribal affairs department.
 Mohammad Hussain Mir, additional resident commissioner and ex-officio secretary, resident commission, New Delhi, has been transferred and shall await further orders in the general administration department. Dr Bharat Bushan, chief executive officer, tourism development authority, Lakhanpur-Sarthal, has been transferred and posted as additional deputy commissioner, Kathua, against an available vacancy. He shall continue to hold the charge of the post of Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Development Authority, Lakhanpur-Sarthal, in addition to his own duties.
