Voting percentage is exaggerated, says Shabir Shah

SRINAGAR: Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday termed it “lie and exaggeration” the statement of the government spokesperson regarding the assembly elections in Anantnag.
In a statement issued here, Shah said, “To make celebrations over the participation of a handful of people in poll process after caging the whole resistance leadership is shameful and doesn’t carry any moral or legal weight.”
Commenting on the low voting percentage, Shah said if resistance leadership would have been allowed to express their viewpoint before the people, “the so-called rulers would have seen their worth”.
Hailing the people of Anantnag Shah said authorities are “exaggerating” the voting percentage. “These rulers made their own agents and police to cast votes and everyone knows how authorities use force against people to compel them to cast votes. This is condemnable,” he said.
Shah said “our stand on these elections is clear”. “Nowhere in the world can we find such example of conducting the elections under the shadow of gun and after suspending the law and order. We call it a military drama,” he said.
Terming the crackdown on pro-freedom leadership as “defeat of Indian state”, Shah challenged authorities to keep a “referendum” option in the voting machine and “see the results”.
