Geelani asks people to observe July 1 as Youm-e-Quds

SRINAGAR: Appealing people to observe the last Friday of Ramadan (July 1) as “Youm-ul-Quds” and June 24 (Friday) as “Youm-e-Kashmir”, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday said peace will elude the world until the issues of Kashmir and Palestine are settled as per the wishes and aspirations of its people.
In a statement issued here, Geelani also appealed the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Hurriyat Conference leaders, Islamic scholars and imams of the masaajids to highlight the issue of Masjid Al-Aqsa in their Jumma-tul-vida sermons and organise special prayers for the peaceful resolution of all the disputed territories including Palestine and Kashmir.
“We must also pray for end to uncertain situations in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and Syria,” he said, adding, the intervention of “anti-Islam” forces into the internal matters of these countries was responsible for the bloodshed in these regions.
“There are similarities between the issues of Palestine and Kashmir. The Israel with the backing of western powers is illegal occupying the Muslim areas and their sacred places in Palestine while as in Kashmir, India through its military might is crushing and muzzling the peaceful voices of the people. The Israeli forces are killing, bombarding, and torturing the innocent Palestinians and Indian forces are committing genocides of Kashmiris in a planned manner. Both nations are struggling against the forcible and illegal foreign occupations since last seven decades,” he said.
Until the foreign forces are withdrawn from these territories, Geelani said, the peace, prosperity, and development in the world will remain a dream.
