SRINAGAR: Congress MP and film actor Raj Babar on Saturday said that in a place like Kashmir Hindus and Muslims cannot be seen living separately.
“This land belongs to Kashmiri Pandits like other Kashmiris. Kashmir is known for the bond between different communities. Even Gandhi had once said if there is any ray of light where humanity and communal harmony is witnessed, it is Kashmir. So how can you see Muslims and Hindus living separately at such a place,” Babar told reporters in Anantnag.
He was campaigning for the party candidate for by-polls to be held in the constituency on 22 June.
He said that there should be no politics on this issue but the people at helm and other organisations should put in their efforts to make Kashmir prosperous.
“Congress has never thought of any such proposal. We believe that such an atmosphere be created where everyone be it a Muslim, Hindu , Sikh or Christian should walk holding each other’s hand. There should be no politics over it,” Congress MP told reporters.
On the spurt in militant activities in Kashmir, Babar said, “I don’t blame anyone for this. All I can say is that policies definitely go somewhere wrong due to which people feel that their rights are being snatched.”
