Wousan militant was religious and a cricketer

Baramulla: Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, who was among the two militants killed in a gunfight with government forces at Wousan, Sopore, on Friday, was very religious and a cricketer before he joined militants the last year.
Imtiyaz, son of Abdul Khaliq Lone, was among the younger siblings—younger than Hilal Ahmad Lone, who has just completed his MBA, and a sister, who is already married.
According to his neighbours, he was a religious man who enjoyed playing cricket.
“The last year, he joined militants and was never seen after that,” they said.
Imtiyaz has passed his 12th class examination days before he had joined militancy.
When his body reached his native village on Friday afternoon, thousands of people from his Wousan and adjoining villages rushed to participate in his funeral prayers.
The people of Palhalan, as per the reports, also tried to take part in the funeral, but government forces didn’t allow them, triggering clashes.
The people hurled stones at the forces, which retaliated by firing tear smoke.
The clashes were on when this report was filed.
