SRINAGAR: The PDP and BJP legislators on Wednesday demanded release of the Industries & Commerce department grants without discussion as the opposition members were absent from the House.
After the Question Hour was over, the opposition benches remained empty as the legislators remained away from the proceedings.
Senior PDP leader Altaf Bukhari pointed out their absence from the House while asking the speaker to pass the allocation of grants to Industries & Commerce department without a discussion.
“NC members are absent. Those who have to oppose are absent. We suggest the grants be passed without discussion,” said Bukhari.
Barring NC legislator Shaheema Firdous, no MLA from that party was present in the House during the discussion. And she too left the House after speaking on the grants.
Among the congress legislators, Aijaz Khan, Usman Majid, and Nawang Rigzin Jora were present.
PDP legislator Abdul Majid Paddar said those who have to oppose were not present in the House.
Amid the cry from the ruling party legislators, BJP legislator Ravindra Raina was desperately pointing to the control room to turn on Bukhari’s mic.
