Srinagar: The Opposition on Thursday created ruckus in the House, demanding dismissal of minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry Abdul Gani Kohli who has been accused of grabbing state land in Jammu.
Soon after the legislators assembled for the day’s proceedings, National Conference and Congress legislators stood up from their seats and demanded that the inquiry report into the alleged land grab should be tabled in the House.
The opposition accused MLA Kalakote of grabbing state land in Jammu’s Sunjwan area and setting up educational institutes there.
“Divisional Commissioner’s inquiry report has indicted the minister. Why is government silent on it?” said Congress legislator Nawang Rigzin Jora.
The opposition members stormed into the well of the House and shouted slogans ‘sack the minister’, ‘down with RSS government’ and ‘down with corrupt government.
Minister for consumer affairs and public distribution Choudhary Zulfikar, however, interrupted the opposition and told the House the case was in the court.

However, the Opposition persisted with its demand of tabling the report in the House.
Speaker Kavinder Gupta informed the members that the matter was in the court hence no discussion can be held here.
Many members from the Opposition have submitted their questions on the issue and it will come up once they are listed, he said.
However, the speaker’s remarks did not convince the Opposition, prompting them to stage a walk out from the House.
