Srinagar: All JK Kisan Mazdoor Party (JKKMP) on Tuesday asked the government to operate women-only buses on all routes in Kashmir Valley, even as it demanded “compassionate rehabilitation” of all the displaced street vendors.
State vice-president of JKKMP, Mushtaq Ahmad Baba, said the chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, should personally see to it that the women-special buses were provided to all the districts.
“This will not only ease the travel for women, but will also make their journey safe,” he said in a statement issued here.
On religious occasions, the service should be made mandatory on all routes, he added.
He said the government should rehabilitate the street vendors and provide them space to do business.
Their families, he said, should not suffer and eviction from the streets should not make them unemployed.
