SRINAGAR: A Congress legislator from Ladakh mocked at the government on depriving development to far-off villages in Nubra area while the villages in the immediate vicinity across the border in China and Pakistan were better developed.
“Thang is the last village on the Indian side in Nubra area and Tha is the first village from Pakistani side. Thang is not connected with then power grid and gets only four-hour genset power supply. Tha is connected with power grid and gets round the clock power supply,” Nubra legislator Deldan Namgial told the legislative assembly during zero hour.
“Pakistan and China are mocking at us. This is the level of development on our side,” Namgial said.
He said that China and Pakistan have enough electricity but our village is not electrified.
“This issue needs immediate attention. I can take you to Thang area. We must electrify this village. Otherwise China and Pakistan will laugh at us,” Namgial said pointing towards deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh.
Dr Singh assured the member that Nubra would not be ignored.
