Centre committed to provide housing to weaker sections

NEW DELHI: In order to achieve the objective of providing houses to economically weaker section (EWS) under the mission “Housing for All” under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Union Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Dr.Nandita Chaterji chaired a meeting of officers of Jammu and Kashmir Government, H&UDD at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
In the meeting, Union Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Dr.Nandita Chaterji discussed the finalization of the proposal of 459 cases of enhancement of Beneficiary Led Construction components(beneficiaries who want to take up construction of enhancement of existing houses at their own) of Baramulla and Udhampur costing Rs.6.12 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
She informed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, all the cities and towns of the state shall be covered in the phased manner and in the phase First 25 cities have been selected. The survey of all the cities in is progress. The Ministry has already cleared 224 cases under New Construction of Beneficiary Led construction costing Rs.3.36 crore. She hoped that the organization will infuse fresh energy and touch new heights in the coming years for the better of the people. She asked the functionaries to work with extra zeal and dedication to provide best services particularly to the EWS/LIG category.
The meeting was attended by Secretary J&K Housing Board Ram Pal Sharma, Joint Secretary Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation, GoI, MoHUPA New Delhi and senior functionaries of H&UDD, J&K state.
