‘Awareness about latest trends can benefit farmers’

ANANTNAG: Minister of state Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi on Tuesday said that agriculture and allied sectors can fulfill the needs of the farmers only if they are made aware about the latest trends and methods of farming. He also advised them to sow seeds and plants of varieties according to the climatic condition of the area.
He was speaking on the occasion one-day fair-cum-awareness camp organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (SKUAST) on Pradahan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana at Kreeri Shahabad Dooru in Anantnag on Tuesday.
Member of Parliament Nazir Ahmad Laway was also present.
The minister also highlighted the importance of the Fasal Bima Yojana. He said the aim of the scheme and the holding of camp was to aware farmers about scientific farming for high yielding crop both in agriculture and in horticulture sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Laway said farmers should avail benefits under the Yojana for improving their livelihood. He said the Yojana was formulated to provide protection to farmers in natural calamities like floods, hailstorm and un-seasonal rains.
