SRINAGAR: A protest demonstration was held here on Monday by Kashmir Tahreek-E-Khawateen to demand an unbiased probe into the rape and murder of Asiya and Neelofar.
The workers of the party, led by their chairperson Zamrooda Habib, took out a march from Abi Guzar to Press Enclave here.
The protesters were holding placards and banners carrying the demand for justice to the two women.
“Rape is used as a war weapon by India to demoralise us from fighting the Indian tyranny and muzzle the voices of freedom,” the protesters said.
“Kashmiris were not satisfied with the investigations and are still awaiting a fair trial. The persons involved in the heinous crime should be firmly dealt with and brought to book.”
“With every passing year we remember this fateful day as a mark and symbol for those unfortunate women who, for the last 65 years, have been humiliated and subjected to sexual harassment.”
They expressed anguish over the slow pace of proceedings in the case.
They urged the international community and human rights groups to take immediate steps for justice in the case.
