Now a tournament named after Handwara martyr Nayeem Qadir Bhat

SRINAGAR: Star eleven cricket club Handwara is organising a tournament in the name of Shaheed Nayeem Memorial Gold Cup cricket Championship 2016.

The tournament is organised in the memory of Nayeem Qadir Bhat who was killed by government forces on April 9 this year when the valley was protesting against the molestation of a girl by a security personnel.

Nayeem, who was a first year student in Government Degree College Handwara, had shown extra ordinary performance in the state level under-19 cricket championship.

The inaugural match of the tournament is being played on May 29 (Sunday) between Kashmir Gymkhana reds Srinagar and Murtaza Warriors Srinagar at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary playground Handwara.

According to the organisers of the tournament, no participation and registration fee is being charged from the participating teams of the tournament.
