Rasheed questions Governor’s legal, constitutional position
SRINAGAR: MLA Langate and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Engineer Rasheed challenged and questioned Governor’s legal and constitutional position on the eve of former’s address to joint session of state legislature.
As soon as Governor N N Vohra started his address at SKICC, Er Rasheed got up from his chair and interrupted his speech by saying that Governor has no moral or constitutional right to address this assembly, as he is a non-state subject.
Er Rasheed said, “Let world not forget that as per terms and conditions of conditional Instrument of Accession, state had its own PM and Sadre-i-Riyasat but the unilateral moves of New Delhi snatched everything from us and the process is still on.
“Hearts of Kashmiris can’t be changed by packages, as the only road that leads to peace is resolution to Kashmir dispute,” Er Rasheed said.
Lashing out at Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks comparing Syria with Pakistan, Rasheed reminded her that it was she who used to advocate a double currency and a joint control of two parts of J&K between India and Pakistan.
Rasheed strongly interrupted Governor for talking about rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in composite townships and resettlement of west Pakistani refugees. He demanded that West Pakistani refugees should be sent back to Pakistan without excuses.
Er Rasheed talked about sufferings of border migrants in Karnah, Uri, Keran, Nowgam, Rajouri and Poonch and said that why these people shouldn’t be taken care of and treated like humans.
He added that Kashmiris will jointly fight the ill designs of New Delhi to change everything state is left with it. He warned government of dire consequences over its intentions to change the script of Kashmiri language and added that every move to saffronise J&K will be resisted.
Er Rasheed lashed out at government for not fulfilling its promise to submit enquiry report of Handwara killings within stipulated one month’s time and said that it didn’t lodged even FIR against army for killings Abdul Gani Naikoo in Kapran.
Er Rasheed termed Legislative Council as a rehabilitation centre for defeated politicians and retired bureaucrats and sought revocation of NFSA, PSA and New Industrial Policy without any excuses and delay and added that the only resolution to all problems is to give people J&K right to self-determination on both sides of LOC.
