Communal elements enjoying power: Nayeem Khan

SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman and Hurriyat leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has said that communal elements that create a wedge on religious lines are enjoying power in the disputed region while as those who work for a resolution to the dispute are being caged and curbed. Khan was reacting after he was stopped from visiting Kishtawar.
Khan was stopped by police near Chatru, on way to Kishtwar and was forced to return along with a delegation.
Terming the police action as unjustified, Khan in a statement said, “Jammu Kashmir has been transformed into a police state where democratic activities are not allowed.”
He said that police have declared Chenab valley and Pirpanchal region as prohibited areas for pro-freedom leaders which is a clear indication that anti-Muslim elements have something very disastrous in mind for the Muslims living in the said regions.
“The pro-freedom leadership has been caged in the valley which gives weight to our apprehensions about the Muslims of Chenab valley and Pirpanchal region,” Khan said.
Nayeem Ahmad Khan however, clarified that Muslims living in any part of the disputed region have a complete backing of their Muslim brethren of the valley and any evil design against them will be faced jointly. “The pro-freedom people of Chenab and Pirpanchal need not to worry, we assure them that valley is behind them,” Khan said.
Nayeem Ahmad Khan said that anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim elements are allowed to spill venom against Muslims but the peace loving Kashmiris are being treated as conquered slaves. He said that India must silence its paid agents and face freedom struggle of Kashmir politically.
Nayeem Ahmad Khan also paid rich and glowing tributes to those martyred in Maharaja Bazar, Srinagar by Indian forces. He said that whosoever has been martyred by the occupied forces at Sarai Bala, deserves our salutes because they instead of surrendering gave tough resistance to the Indian forces.
