Shah interacts with Sikh delegation, says we struggle for all regions, religions

SRINAGAR: Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Monday said that division of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be accepted.
Interacting with a delegation of Akali Dal Man at the party’s Sanat Nagar headquarters, Shah, as per a statement issued here, said, “We will never allow the RSS plans of division of J&K to succeed at any cost. We are committed to secure and safeguard the interests of all the communities of the state.”
“Our struggle is not for any particular section, but we demand the right to self-determination for all regions and religions of the state.”
Shah termed the remarks of BJP leader Lal Singh as “frustration”, saying that Kashmiris would never leave Jammu Muslims “at the mercy of communal forces”.
Hailing the stand of Sikh community vis-à-vis Kashmir dispute, DFP chief said conspiracies were hatched to make Sikhs migrate from the state, but this community didn’t fall into anyone’s trap.
Similarly, he said, Kashmiri Pandits were made to leave the Valley under a “well-planned conspiracy”.
“We have been making efforts to bring Kashmiri Pandits back to the Valley, but some elements are running their political shops by exploiting their return. These people are not interested in the rehabilitation of Pandits but are exploiting them for their personal gains,” he said.
Shah told the Sikh delegation that New Delhi is bent to change the Muslim majority character of the state for which it continues to hatch conspiracies.
Until Kashmir issue is resolved as per the UN resolutions or through tripartite talks, the peace in the region would remain a distant dream, he said.
During the interaction, both parties agreed to deliberate on the issues to create mutual trust and understanding and to support each other.
