Pakistan flags raised during Mirwaiz rally

Srinagar: During a rally organised by Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat conference in old city on Friday Pakistani flags were waved.

“Pakistani and green (Islamic) flags were waved by a group of youth at the rally led by Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” a police official said.

He said the rally was taken out from Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city as part of series of events organised by Hurriyat on the eve of 26th death anniversary of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, father of the current Mirwaiz.

The official said police is investigating as to who hoisted the controversial flags.

The rally culminated at Mirwaiz Manzil, head office of Awami Action Committee.
